Key Benefits

The leading semi-dwarf hybrid variety
Outstanding lodging resistance
Very short and compact plant type for maximum harvesting efficiency
Excellent agronomic characteristics improving the ease of all farming operations

Yield and Gross Output

Consistent yields across the UK
Average yield similar to control varieties
Highest gross output of the new semi-dwarf varieties with an oil content of 43.7%
Ability to reduce yield losses from lodging and harvesting operations

Disease Resistance

DK Secure has good all round disease resistance
It has good resistance to Light Leaf Spot and Stem Canker. The latter is increasingly important in tighter oilseed rape rotations

Agronomy

DK Secure is short with outstanding lodging resistance and stem stiffness
It is not too short making it more competitive against weeds
Medium maturity
Late flowering avoids late frosts
DK Secure is much more prostrate than conventional varieties

Management advice

Best suited to the main drilling window. Do not drill after the middle of September.
Aim for an even spring population of 35-40
plants per m2
Consider seed rate carefully. If in doubt use a slightly higher rate to achieve ground cover
Seedbed quality, previous cropping and agronomic factors need to be considered with the aid of local knowledge and experience
The short plant-type can increase the potential for weed competition. Volunteers may be more visible
